LOCAL DANCE COMPANY HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR SPRING CONCERT AT THE RITZ Kathy Miller, of trideaDANCE, will be holding auditions for male and female dancers ages 14 through adult. The audition will be held on Sunday, March 5 beginning at 1:00 PM on the main stage at The Ritz Theatre. Selected dancers may be asked to stay until 4:00 PM. Chosen dancers will rehearse an all-new choreographed piece created by Miller and hip-hop artist Brian Jones, which will then be premiered at trideaDANCE's April 22 spring concert at The Ritz Theatre. Dancers should arrive in comfortable clothing and be prepared to learn and show movement phrases taught at the audition. Previous dance experience may be helpful, but is not required. Rehearsal dates and times are to be determined. trideaDANCE is a professional dance collaborative currently in residency at The Ritz Theatre which creates and performs contemporary dance works utilizing a variety of dance styles and techniques.

Have you ever wanted to write your own play? Do you have a creative voice that you've wanted to share with the world? Now is your chance to learn how to use your opinions and journeys of life as a creative outlet through playwriting. The Huron Playhouse is proud to host its 2nd annual Community Voices program, an opportunity for all to harbor their skills as budding playwrights! We invite you to attend our week long workshop located at the Huron Public Library on June 4th-8th, 2017 and learn how to create a theatrical monologue. All those who attend the free workshop will be invited to a staged reading of their work at the Huron Playhouse on Friday, June 9th at 8pm, where their creative endeavors will be read by professional actors/actresses. The theme of this year's writing will be ideas, thoughts, and feelings related to LOVE. Being a resident of Huron, you have a voice as to what love means and we want to hear it! If you would like to participate in the Community Voices event, please email your name, email address, and a small writing sample in the style of a monologue to artisticdirector@huronplayhouse.com. Once your writing sample has been received, you will be notified and signed up for the workshop. SPACE IS LIMITED TO 20 MONOLOGUES, SO FIRST COME WILL BE FIRST INTO THE PROGRAM. From musical theatre’s most renowned composer, COMPANY is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern musical genre, and the winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics and Best Book. On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks, and even a wedding, his friends — “those good and crazy people [his] married friends” — explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse. The habitually-single Robert is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious array of interactions. Auditions are Sunday and Monday, March 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. at 205 Maple Street, Bellevue. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, May 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 7 at 2:30 p.m. Available roles (and playable ages) include: Robert — The story’s protagonist, he is a keen observer who appears happy but holds pain in his heart.
