Interorbital Systems (IOS), a rocket, satellite, and spacecraft manufacturing company, was founded in 1996 by Roderick and Randa Milliron. It is located at the Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California. The company carries out its operations at facilities consisting of a 6,000-square-foot office/prototyping/manufacturing center and two private rocket engine test sites.

Interorbital's modular orbital launch system is poised to provide the lowest-cost access to space to date. The launch system's design uses cost-cutting technology such as advanced, lightweight, all-composite propellant tanks, pressure-fed propellant flow, and all-composite ablative plug-and-play rocket engine technology. All launches will be ocean-based, eliminating the exorbitant existing spaceport fees (many millions of dollars!) and passing those savings on to IOS' launch customers.

IOS conducts its low-altitude test launches at the Mojave Test Area (MTA) in the desert North of Mojave and at Delamar Dry Lake in Nevada, where it is authorized by the FAA to launch rockets to a maximum altitude of 10 miles (16km) and higher---ideal for flight-testing hardware.
