This cancer survivorship program is designed to help participants establish healthy, long-term habits through twice-weekly group sessions. Our goal is to help you renew your body, mind and spirit through education and compassionate support. Our instructors will guide you along this 8-week journey, providing the necessary support for you to restore your strength and resilience through dietary modifications, exercise instruction and stress management techniques. The core components of the program are: Nutrition Our registered dietician will guide you through curriculum based on the well-researched Nutritarian diet, developed by Joel Fuhrman, MD. During this session we will: • Establish the core fundamentals of superior nutrition • Teach you to understand the impact that certain foods have on your health • Guide you to make healthier choices Exercise It is important to us that our participants establish the self-confidence and courage needed to begin and continue exercising. Our certified trainers will help you establish the principles of proper exercise, including: • Improved strength and flexibility • Improved balance and core strength • Increased cardiovascular capacity Stress Management Change can be difficult. We all struggle with day to day challenges that get in the way of self-improvement. In this component of the program, we'll help you: • Recognize and reduce the effects that stress has on the mind and body • Become more resilient to life's challenges Program Lectures In addition to our weekly classes, Dr. Fuhrman will give three lectures to participants in the program to educate on the benefits of the diet to strengthen immunity and prevent reoccurrence.
