Frances Leiter Center

Services provided at The Nicarry Center in New Oxford, Frances Leiter Center in Chambersburg & The Lehman Center in York. A Crisis-Respite Nursery at The Lehman Center provides 24 hour emergency and respite care for children from birth through six years of age. Children may stay at the nursery for up to 72 consecutive hours while their parents work toward the resolution of the crisis.

Family Advocacy provides family support and advocacy services to families via office and/or home visits.

Art Therapy is provided to children experiencing significant life events, including conflict, divorce, school problems, abuse and behavioral problems. Registered Art Therapists help children through the healing process.

Parent Support Groups for parents who want their relationships with their children to improve. Parents feel supported and understood by other parents experiencing similar feelings. At this time there are weekly community groups in York County, Adams County as well as weekly groups at the York County Prison.

A 24 hour hotline/referral service is available as a non-threatening resource to parents and/or care givers. Social isolation and other life stressors increase the risk for child abuse. Listening, caring staff on the other end of the line can offer immediate emotional support, help individuals address the crisis and provide referrals to other community resources.

Community Education is offered to community organizations and groups through presentations and workshops that address issues of child abuse, with emphasis on prevention and early intervention.
