Our Checkmate Sales and Training teams are normally scattered across the country. But this week, we all met in Kentucky (near our main office). After work, we fueled up with local BBQ and competed for the glory of being the best bowler on the team. (Verdict: we're all consistently mediocre.) A great night with great people!

URGENT NOTICE UPDATE RECYCLERS: As noted in our message earlier this week, Car-Part.com received a report that someone contacted a recycler in order to gain access to the recycler's inventory management system, encrypted the recycler's part images, and demanded a ransom in order to remove the encryption. After investigating the reported incident in more detail, it is now clear that the information we originally received regarding this report was inaccurate. The affected recycler was infected with a ransomware virus via an email. The email in question did not claim to be from Car-Part.com, and is an example of a ransomware virus. The reported incident had nothing to do with Car-Part.com. In our nearly 20 years serving the auto recycling industry, Car-Part.com has not been responsible for either the introduction of a virus into a recycler's system, or a data breach involving a recycler's inventory data. We strongly recommend that recyclers have current anti-virus software installed on all of your computers. As originally reported, it appeared to be an example of a social engineering attack. We strongly recommend that you do not provide sensitive information or system access to anyone you don't know and trust. Both of these types of attacks are becoming more common. The incident described above did not happen on a Car-Part.com management system, but keep in mind that these attacks can happen to anyone (regardless of the management systems or data collectors they use), so it is important that you exercise best practices to protect yourself. Thank you for being a valued member of the Car-Part.com community. If you would like more information on how to protect yourself from ransomware viruses, please review this article from the Car-Part Scoop: http://products.car-part.com/newsletters/scoop/cps20141212.html

We have been sweeping the shelves with our new mobile eBay studio, and it seems one of our old forgotten old parts may have just made someone's day. Thank you for the kind words Joseph. It made our day.
