KIPP New Orleans Schools (KNOS) is building a far-reaching network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools that empower students with the knowledge and skills to be lifelong learners and leaders.

With its “no shortcuts, no excuses” philosophy, students benefit from a longer school day, week and year; innovative, immersive teaching; and a motivating learning environment. KNOS school leaders, teachers and administrators do whatever it takes to ensure that students learn, achieve and grow.

We aim to provide our KIPPsters with a comprehensive educational experience and broad purview. Embracing the spirit of New Orleans, KNOS offers symphonic and jazz band, visual arts, and other enrichment and extracurricular programming. Each school has an athletic and physical education program, as well.

KNOS is a partnership between schools, students and families – with learning and accomplishment at the core. With pre-enrollment home visits, frequent parent-teacher conferences and other family activities, our “Commitment to Excellence” pledge ensures that all members of the team are on the same page to help students succeed.

Since our inception in 2005, KIPP New Orleans Schools has expanded to 9 schools on 8 campuses, with more than 3,700 students enrolled. Our goal is to grow to 12 schools by 2015, serving 5,300 students, or 13% of the public school population in New Orleans. We aim to launch more than 1,000 first-generation students to college graduation by 2022 – a rate increase of over seven times what our city has seen in the past.
