ADDENDUM FROM MISS FARRINGTON I am very glad that we are able to open on Thursday, and I know many of you are happy to begin the process of getting back to ‘normal life.’ I would like to express my gratitude to the administrative team at St. Luke for assisting our school in preparing for the storm and in dealing with the damage and closure issues that faced us after Irma left us. Irma did leave us with some repairs to do, so ACS will continue to deal with these in the coming weeks. All programs and activities for students should be back on schedule by next Monday at the latest. We appreciate your patience as we take care of all these items step by step. The first re-scheduled date I can announce is The Back-to-School Bash will be September 29. Families may need some recreation time by then, so we hope all of you can join us for a night of fun and fellowship. Speaking of fellowship, we ask any ACS family dealing with major loss and damage to please let us know; we can help. There have already been numerous families contacting us to see what they can do to assist ACS families who suffered great damage or loss, a wonderful sign of our concern for each other and our unity as a community. Also, please do not worry if students are missing uniform items or lunch or snacks…we will assist here as well. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow, ready to share their stories of the storm and happy to be back to the same familiar routine! WEDNESDAY 9/13 UPDATE ON ST. LUKE CAMPUS: please share and comment to get the information out to our whole parish. St. Luke Campus has power and will re-open THURSDAY 9/14. -Annunciation Catholic School, the Child Care Center and the St. Luke Parish Office will re-open for regular hours on Thurs. including daily Mass at 8:30 am. -Parish Office hours are 9:00 am until 4:30 pm with lunch from 12:30 - 1:30. We are working to organize resources and extend assistance for those in need. If anyone would like to get involved, please e-mail Fr Andy at support@stlukesparish.org . - Please, continue to check the website, Facebook and parish app for continuing updates. UPDATE ON ST. LUKE CAMPUS CLOSURES: As a matter of safety, the St. Luke Parish Campus, including the Church, Parish office, Annunciation Catholic School and the St. Luke Child Care Center, will remain closed on Wednesday (9/13). A decision for reopening on Thursday (9/14) will be made as more information from county governments becomes available. There will be no morning Masses or any meetings taking place on campus. * Please continue to check Facebook for updates. May the Lord bless you in your travels and in your care for others in this time of need. Irma Addendum from Miss Farrington Please be aware that there was damage to our school in the form of roof leaks, loss of shingles, soffits, and drainage pipes. We also lost many tree limbs and branches. The next steps are to do some clean-up, wait for the electricity to come back on, and have the damage assessed so that we may know the extent of the repairs needed. In the meantime, we are trying to open as soon as we can, and electricity is the key. We appreciate the patience of our families as this is truly a day by day situation. We will continue to try and inform parents by early afternoon on each day about the plans for the following day. Due to the change in our schedule this week, we have had to cancel or postpone some school activities: * School pictures will be postponed from September 13, new date to be announced *Student Council campaigns and elections will be held next week according to the order set for this week, with speeches and voting on September 21 *The Back-to-School Bash is postponed from September 15, new date to be announced *All other events still on track as scheduled We have heard through social media and neighbors that some of our families experienced great losses from Irma, and we ask that you keep our entire community in your prayers as for some, the recovery will be slow. Please watch for additional messages from our Home and School Team for more news about the impact on our families.
