NRA and CRPA Attorneys Obtain Text of Proposed “Assault Weapon” Registration Regulations Today, NRA and CRPA attorneys obtained a copy of the proposed regulations regarding the registration of newly classified “assault weapons” from the Office of Administrative Law. To better help California gun owners understand the proposal, NRA and CRPA attorneys will be hosting a free live webinar next week on Thursday, May 25 at 12:00 pm (PT). To attend this live webinar for this free, register . If you are unable to attend, don’t worry. The webinar will be recorded and made freely available on CRPA’s website at NRA and CRPA attorneys are also reviewing the proposal to ensure DOJ has not overstepped its authority. As you may recall, DOJ voluntarily withdrew their first attempt proposal as a direct result of NRA and CRPA submitting a joint-pre-litigation demand letter to the Department of Justice and a joint-opposition letter to the Office of Administrative Law. Both letters highlighted how DOJ’s first attempt went far beyond what is necessary for the registration of newly classified “assault weapons,” and instead read like a wish-list from the gun ban lobby which DOJ attempted to shoehorn into their proposed regulations. NRA and CRPA are also working hard to challenge California’s unconstitutional and ineffective gun control laws. On April 24, NRA and CRPA filed a lawsuit in federal district court challenging California’s “Assault Weapon Control Act,” which bans hundreds of popular and commonly owned semi-automatic firearms. That lawsuit, titled Rupp v. Becerra, challenges California’s “assault weapon” as a violation of the Second Amendment, due process clause, and takings clause of the United States Constitution. To learn more about the Rupp lawsuit and other important Second Amendment issues, visit the new NRA-ILA California webpage, Stand and Fight California!, or visit Take Action – Donate Now! As NRA and CRPA continue our legal efforts in the courts and our political efforts at every level of government, we need all California gun owners standing with us. We cannot be successful without your help. By donating today to the CRPA Foundation, and volunteering to help the fight at, you can help undo “gunmageddon” and the anti-gun Proposition 63, and begin the process of restoring firearms freedoms and the right to choose to own a firearms to defend yourself and your family in California!
