The Family Place provides for the immediate needs of families experiencing homelessness. Three meals and a snack each day, showers and laundry facilities, storage for belongings; it is the pick-up and drop-off for school aged children; we also aid in housing and employment searches. The new mission is to not only provide the basic needs, but to include educational based programming for both the adults and children in our care. We are establishing an all year Montessori children’s house for preschool aged children, and a 16-week life skills training program (three session per year) for the adults to address the root causes of homelessness. This pilot program is called Going Home. These programs are set to launch in late 2014.
