A trio of Hinshaw partners – Aimee Delaney, David Alfini and Adam Guetzow – provided a HR, CMS and labor and employment update at the LeadingAge Illinois 2017 Human Resources Conference today at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. LeadingAge Illinois is one of the largest associations of providers serving older adults in Illinois. David discussed CMS' final rule of participation and its impact on long-term care employers, Adam addressed compliance and ethics program changes and Aimee spoke on specific changes in minimum wage, paid sick leave and handbook updates, amongst other topics impacting Illinois employers.

Many thanks to the Connecticut Valley Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. for the opportunity to present on "Best Practices for Building an LGBT Inclusive Workplace and Preventing Claims" at their Annual Meeting on Wednesday. Hinshaw attorneys Aimee Delaney and Nick Corsano gave the presentation, which reviewed federal, state, and local LGBTQ workplace legal protections; definitions of LGBTQ terminology; employment scenarios that could lead to claims in the workplace; and best practices for promoting an LGBTQ inclusive work environment.
