Top five reasons to put your client into the side-lying position. 1. Comfort- Side-lying allows clients who have trouble breathing with their head in the face cradle on their stomachs, relieves the pressure off of women with large or painful breasts, and aids in making massage easier for people with ostomy bags, chemotherapy port, or even painful surgical sites still in the healing process. 2. Safety for pregnant women who are in their second trimester and higher. 3. If your client tends to get dizzy after a massage due to the drop in blood pressure from pressure on the vena cava. 4. Easy to work on the TFL, QL, and the IT Band. (Interested in these words? If so it's time to call Bellevue Massage School) 5. A great way to make sure you are able to meet all of your clients needs.
