McKee Group

The McKee Group has been recognized in national media such as Good Morning America and News and World Report for its innovative work in the field of active adult housing. Since that time, they have welcomed thousands of homeowners to their communities and continue to be a nationally recognized leader in the active adult market today.

Founded in 1948 as McKee and McHale,
a heating and air-conditioning contractor, the company was a partnership between brother-in-law, Frank A. McKee and Joseph McHale. Following McHale's death in 1960, Frank A. McKee developed apartments for older tenants, building more than 500 units, which the company still owns and manages. Frank A. McKee became a pioneer in adult 55-plus housing and resolved to dedicate his company to creating communities that combined homes of high quality and great value with a carefree and enjoyable lifestyle.

In addition to 55+ communities, The McKee Group owns and operates several garden apartment complexes. The fact that some tenants have resided in the same McKee Group apartment for more than 25 years is a testament to the Company's management abilities. The Commercial Division has increased its holdings both by purchasing existing facilities and by obtaining raw ground and completing the entitlement and construction process. Company staff manage all of its commercial investment properties. McKee Plaza, a trio of office buildings ideally located on Route 320, adjacent to the Route 1 exit of the Blue Route, is the centerpiece of a portfolio of office buildings that consistently exceed 90% occupancy. A Storage Depot, The McKee Group's self-storage business, includes six locations throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.
