WVRC was founded in 1958 and was the first sheltered workshop in the State of Oregon to provide employment and training for adults with disabilities. Three concerned citizens possessing drive, desire, and dedication came together to provide services to fifteen individuals. In 1961, the Center was formally incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation and was housed in an old dance hall, three miles east of Lebanon, Oregon. Over the years, the organization developed programs in manufacturing customized wood products, can and bottle sorting, assembling and packaging of specialized products, producing zirconium crucibles. providing janitorial and landscape maintenance services.
WVRC has grown from serving fifteen individuals to providing training and employment to more than 120 individuals with special needs. Our clients have a broad mix of disabilities including: Downs Syndrome, autism, dementia, severe brain traumas, learning disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, blindness, deafness, fetal alcohol syndrome, and severe adaptive behavior impairments. Often individuals experience more than once disability.
