We are one of largest combination fire departments in Harris County behind Cy-Fair and Pasadena Fire Department. The Spring Fire Department provides the following services: fire suppression, search and rescue, EMS first response, and public fire education for 62 square miles with a population of 152,000 operate 9 stations, with a fleet of 40 apparatus. Through the taxing authority of Harris County Emergency Services District 7, we are contracted to provide fire protection services. We are currently under the leadership of Fire Chief Scott Seifert.

The Spring Fire Department is what is known as a combination department, meaning that we operate with full-time, part-time and volunteer personnel.

In 1953, The Spring Volunteer Fire Association was founded, starting with seven members and apparatus donated from other departments. Income was generated from donations and pledges that lasted thirty years. In 1983, Harris County Rural Fire Protection District #1 was formed, which provided a portion of property tax for the SVFA, enlarging a budget which had previously been dependent on pledges and donations. In the 1990's, Emergency Services Districts were forming throughout Harris County and provided more income for their respective districts. In 1997, HCESD #7 was formed and replaced the outdated HCRFPD #1.

All 911 calls requiring the fire department are routed to the Cypress Creek EMS Communication Center, which dispatches ambulances and other fire departments in the surrounding areas. CCEMS provides EMS in Spring and we assist with First Responders.
