AYS (formerly At-Your-School Child Services) began with the vision of three concerned mothers who realized that working families often could not be with their children during the critical hours before and after school. The first after-school program began in 1980 at Indianapolis Public School #70 with fewer than 10 children. AYS has since emerged from that grassroots movement into a dynamic human services agency providing care for 1,500 children in 45 programs. Children in the programs reflect the demographics of the community. All economic levels are represented, including children who currently receive financial assistance from AYS or government vouchers.
