Elder Law Planning looks at how someone can best care for themselves and their loved ones while they're still alive. Many of Mr. Ward’s Elder Law cases begin with an inquiry from an adult child who realizes that their parent is experiencing a decline in health, or when the parent has been taken advantage of because they are no longer as attentive to their own financial matters. From there, we can explore the possibilities of what can be done to help protect the individual and their assets. The unfortunate fact is that oftentimes the senior or the senior’s family has waited too long to act and therefore has not left ample time for much to be done. These are tough cases to work on because the family can lose a significant amount of assets due to a lack of planning. Do not let this happen to you or your loved ones. Develop a plan.
Estate Planning is often thought of in terms of what happens after one dies. Each person and each family has their own story, issues, and values. We respect that and counsel our clients on how we can help them achieve their goals for themselves and their heirs.
Often through multi-generational meetings, Mr. Ward counsels clients and their families on decisions necessary to properly protect themselves and their assets. Mr. Ward uses estate planning techniques designed to protect clients and their loved ones and properly transfer what oftentimes took a lifetime to build. Proper planning of the transfer of assets entails considerable discussion and review of the options and alternatives that are available to achieve the client’s wishes. For many clients, a degree of flexibility in the planning best suits their needs. While we may assume some things based upon statistical averages, there are always the cases that don’t follow the standard statistical pattern. Proper estate planning needs to take this into account.
