The American Civil Liberties Union and its state affiliates are the nation's foremost champions of individual rights- litigating, legislating, and educating the public on a broad array of issues affecting individual freedom in the United States. ACLU-DE works hard to ensure that every Delawarean's civil liberties are protected.
The ACLU of Delaware is not a public defender. We do not handle criminal cases or civil disputes, nor do we choose sides according to financial criteria. We are neither liberal nor conservative, Republican nor Democrat. We are a nonprofit, public interest organization of members devoted exclusively to protecting the basic civil liberties of all Delawareans.
ACLU-DE is an advocate for students' rights, free speech, LGBT rights, personal privacy, humane treatment of prisoners, religious freedom, and freedom from unconstitutional discrimination based on sex, age, race, sexual orientation, and other characteristics.
During legislative session, we work diligently to inform our membership and all Delawareans of pending legislation that threatens our civil liberties. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter (@ACLU_Delaware) for the latest updates. ✸To become a member or renew your membership, visit: ✸
