For over 60 years, Peak Community Services has been dedicated to helping people with Developmental or Intellectual disabilities grow in the community at work, at home, and in everyday life. It began in 1954 with a group of parents seeking equal opportunities for their children, who were not being educated in the public schools. This organization began as the Adams School for Children in the old YMCA building with ten children attending. Through the vision of those founders we have grown. Through the years we have been known as the CCCMRC and The Woodlawn Center. Our Winamac location, formally known as the Pulaski County Association for Retarded Citizens, came under our management in 1989. In 2002 the name was changed to Peak Community Services, Inc. working on fulfilling the dreams of more than 150 men, women and children throughout northcentral and northwestern Indiana. Our team works to enhance people’s quality of life through independent living skill training, social and work skills training, career opportunities, and residential services. The agency has committed to investing in our communities with appropriate housing for those we serve.
