Nationwide Insurance: Robert Frank Stastny

Over the past 60 years Baltimore and the surrounding counties have changed dramatically but one thing that hasn’t changed in the past 60 years are the founding principle on which our agency, The Stastny Insurance Agency, was founded. These are the same ideas that Charles B. Stastny (1919-2002) believed in when he started in the insurance business in 1950. Charles had emigrated from Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, as a young man of only 19 years old. He enlisted in the US Army and served during World War II. After returning from the war he met his future wife Mildred Picek and they were married in 1946. Together they started an agency in their Highlandtown row home on Clinton Street. It was from those modest beginnings that the Charles B. Stastny Agency was born.

Through Charles’ hard work and compassion for his clients he grew his agency and set an example for his two sons Robert and Richard. In 1975 Robert F. Stastny, having a true passion for the insurance business, started down the path to building his own agency. Robert, believing in the same ideas as his father, hard work, trust, honesty, was also successful in building an agency. In 1990, after 40 years in the business, Charles retired and Robert purchased his agency and consolidated the businesses to form what is now The Stastny Insurance Agency.
