As an animal lover, Founder of Buddy and Friends Karen Lucca, was always surrounded by animals as a child. Her love for them did not dwindle as she grew up and began to dedicate her time to rescue organizations. Every animal she has ever had, including her German Shepard/Ridgeback mix Buddy, has been adopted from a rescue organization.
Karen had just lost her Rottweiler a month before, adopted from Broward County Animal Rescue, and it was fate that Saturday as Karen drove through the parking lot of a local West Palm Beach PetsMart. It was the deep brown eyes of a young puppy that greeted her in front of the store, and she fell in love. Luv-a-Pup had recently saved several litters of puppies from the Bahamas, and the long tailed clumsy pup that would soon become Karen’s new love, was one of them.
It has now been seven years since Karen and Buddy found one another, and the idea for Buddy and Friends came into being. Buddy and Friends started out as business, but after working with numerous rescue organizations, Karen decided to create an avenue to generate funds to donate to rescues, both local and national.
Buddy and Friends offers a wide selection of fun and whimsical handmade collars and martingales, as well as an array of “Made in the USA” products for animals of all kinds. Buddy wants to help all of his friends—dogs, cats and horses alike.
