When someone is having a hard time finding a job — either because of a disability, poverty, or lack of education and work experience, Goodwill is there to help. Goodwill does that by selling donations in Goodwill stores and using the revenues to fund job training and career advancement programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of people each year.
With the help of donors, volunteers and advocates, Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma (GICO) is working to give “A Hand Up… Not A Hand Out.”
To pay for its programs, GICO sells donated clothes and other household items in its ten retail stores. The organization also builds revenues, and creates jobs, by contracting with businesses and government to provide a wide range of commercial services, including janitorial work, security services, recycling programs and more.
Through its services, GICO helps people overcome barriers to employment and become independent, tax-paying members of their communities.
Established in 1936, GICO is now the largest non-profit provider of employment training services for people with disabilities in the state of Oklahoma.
You can help the cause by donating your gently-used goods at any store and donation center, or make the ultimate sacrifice- go shopping!
