Mission: The Federation of Genealogical Societies empowers the genealogical and family history community, especially its societies and organizations, by advocating for the preservation and access of records and providing resources that enable genealogical organizations to succeed in pursuing their missions.
Founded in 1976, the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) represents the members of hundreds of genealogical societies and links the genealogical community by helping genealogical societies and family history enthusiasts strengthen and grow through online resources; through the FGS FORUM magazine; through marshaling the resources of its member organizations for preservation projects like the Preserve the Pensions project; and through its annual national conference which provides four days of excellent learning opportunities for both societies and family history enthusiasts.
