Montgomery County Schools added 2 new photos.
At last night's board meeting the MCHS Girls' Varsity Cross Country Team and two eighth grade boys were recognized for recently competeing in the state meet. Logan Stafford and Logan Stigall have been ranked as high as 2nd and 4th in the state among eighth grade AAA runners. Stafford ran a personal best time of 17:44, earning a spot among the top 100 elite runners in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet. He placed 83rd in a field of 278 runners. Stafford secured his trip to the state meet by placing as the top runner for Montgomery County in the 6AAA Region. Teammate Logan Stigall placed 198th in an impressive time of 18:47. The girls’ varsity team competed in their third consecutive state championship and were led by junior, Jewelee Holbrook. Jewelee placed 126th, covering the 5K course in 22:17. Hopey Newkirk is the Head Coach for the team. Assistant coaches are Jo Botts, Ginny Feltner, and Tommy Newkirk. Congratulations to Cross Country team members Rose Artrip, Jewelee Holbrook, Kim Lopez, Lauren Patrick, Morgan Patrick, Chyann Sargent, Logan Stafford, Logan Stigall, and Bailey Walker.

Members of our team, including School Nutrition, Maintenance and Custodial Services, Personnel and Transportation will be accepting applications and offering the opportunity to partake in short interviews for positions during the Career Fair. We will also have a Chromebooks available to complete online applications and personnel will be available to help with any questions. This month the student leadership group at Mount Sterling Elementary continued their outreach project with a visit to the Sterling Community Food Coalition. While there the students stocked the shelves with fresh produce and many other food items. The students were excited to know that they were helping organize the space that will be used to provide food for those in need in our community.
