Proud to call her a sister! #protectosu
My name is Daniella Israelstam. I am a sophomore pre-business major, I am a Jew, and I am an immigrant. My family and I emigrated from Johannesburg, South Africa in 2004 – a part of the world that for generations has dealt with strained race relations and real issues of apartheid. It was in South Africa that generations of my family fought against discrimination that their Black colleagues faced. I have seen firsthand the destruction of society that comes with a denial of diversity, dialogue, and an overall right to life. Issue 2 has strong ties to a movement called BDS and this movement does nothing to promote human rights. It hurts the Middle East for all people, which is why we need to discuss a better solution. I am privileged to be attending Ohio State and to have the opportunity to voice my beliefs and promote unity in my sphere of influence. It is because of my beliefs, which are rooted in respect for others and a commitment to celebrating diversity – that I will be voting NO on Issue 2 to #ProtectOSU from the dangers of divestment. #VoteNoOnIssue2
