Canyon State Credit Union is the result of a merger in 2005 between SAFEQ and Grand Canyon State Credit Unions. Both credit unions were founded in 1951: SAFEQ as a credit union to serve employees of Safeway and Grand Canyon State as a credit union for Arizona State employees. Canyon State and the predecessor credit unions have undergone many stages of growth over the years. Today we stand strong with over 20,000 members and provide financial services to Arizona state employees and retired state employees, Safeway employees and retirees, almost anyone who lives in Arizona and anyone who lives in the household of a member. Canyon State has adopted the concept "Once a member, always a member" and will forever be Committed to You even if you leave your sponsor group or move you can still keep all the benefits of membership.
