ABOUT US

Powers Bike Shop owner Chad Powers' was born and raised in Nokesville, Virginia where his shop home base still is today. His love affair with cycling began at the age of three when his dad brought him home a pink bike he found at the local dump. Once he mastered wheelies on it at the age of 5 he decided it was true love! He began racing in the NBL league (now the ABA) in the mid-90's and and was hooked on riding BMX. His parents, Big Chad and Brenda Powers nurtured this passion, becoming members of their local BMX track board, and let him build a sweet bmx track in the backyard. He secured jobs in top cycling shops in the Dc/Metro area where he learned how to build and maintain everything from scuffed up scraper bikes to top of the line seven-digit carbon triathlon models. In 2004 Powers Bike Shop became the mobile shop that is known today after Chad sustained injuries on the track that effectively ended his racing career. As bummed as he was he didn't let that stop him from being a part of BMX and now eleven years later Powers Bike Shop is going strong. It has expanded from a shady unmarked van in the parking lot of skate parks and National races everywhere to a "real" mail order warehouse and mobile shop so many riders and their families have grown to know and love. When you're a customer at Powers Bike Shop you become a part of a cult-like group of people who understand and appreciate the value of awesome service and vibes over other big box stores slashed prices. And Chad still works every race, crisscrossing the country in pursuit of his love of bmx with his immense knowledge of the sport, his savant-like mechanic skills, and his charming smile and unmistakable laugh. Come by and see us sometime!
