Guiding Young Girls

Guiding Young Girls is licensed through the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. We are a private for profit entity in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

GYG's purpose is to offer an holistic, therapuetic, and realistic alternatives to inappropriate behaviors caused by psychological and environmental factors. We utilize an empowerment approach to our ecological method of treatment. Our goal is to assist consumers and their families with maximizing their internal resources to achieve positive outcomes.

GYG provides human services for at risk and adjudicated youth and their families. These services include: intensive in-home counseling, independent living skills, individual family counseling, intensive wrap around services, child care services, mentoring, community linkage, anger management, social skills development, educational enhancement/tutorial classes, and substance abuse education.

Behavior modification techniques are focused to place greater emphasis on positive reinforcement. A staff of trained licensed personnel, psychologist, counselors and clinicians work in concert with consumers and their families to find positives in the most difficult situations as a modality to encourage appropriate behavior.

GYG offers intensive in - home services that are holistic, strength based, client centered yet family focused. The agency enjoys healthy working relationship with several agencies within the Hampton Roads area. Specifically, with the Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Court Services Units, Department of Social Services, Public School system, Family Assessment Planning Teams and Community Services Boards.
