Central opened in Ontario Oregon in 1977 as a TV repair shop. Even though the market was saturated with repair shops at that time, Central grew through hard work and a determination to provide the best service possible. As time progressed, Central added retail sales and continued to grow based on our commitment to excellent service and quality products.

In 1987 Central switched to Rent to Own. We quickly discovered that Rent to Own customers demand the best service and highest quality product possible. This was a great fit for our company as this is what we expect from ourselves. We also discovered that the unique Rent to Own payment system also allowed us to know our customers better. Since rental payments are made every week or month we quickly learn what our customers want and need from us.

Building strong working relationships with our customers makes our business one of the most rewarding businesses. Many of our customers choose Central to supply all of their home furnishing needs and we are now welcoming their children into our stores as customers.

Central Rent to Own has long believed that we must be a part of the communities we serve and encourage our employees and stores to contribute and serve local causes. Many of our employees are involved in teaching or leading in their church, coaching local youth sports teams, and serving on various boards in their communities.

Central’s foundation was built upon strong family values and continues this theme as the second generation of Knights begin to take ownership of the company. Not only has Central maintained strong local ownership; it is not uncommon to have staff members who have worked for Central 10 years or longer.
