Oak Street Child Development Center (OSCDC) was established in 1991, and is a certified early childhood education and childcare center for infants, toddlers, preschool and pre-kindergarten age children. Oak Street staff work together to provide a safe, enriching and educational enviroment for children in which to flourish and grow.
The center has been operating for over 20 years at its downtown Eugene location, and has been an officially Board run center since 2002.
Philosophy:
Oak Street center's philosophy is considered "Developmental." OSCDC feels positive self esteem is the most important asset that a child can have growing up. The major goal in the program is for the children to have positive experiences in which they can feel good about themselves. Each child's development of self discipline and healthy pattern of interaction with others is encouraged. OSCDC believes that through play and social activities such as games, crafts, discussion groups, etc., the center can provide children with the opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Most of all the center provides a warm, safe, and accepting atmosphere where children thrive.
