New Core Inc.'s electric apparatus service heritage began with the second Industrial Revolution, when the Crocker-Wheeler Motor Company was founded in 1888. Crocker-Wheeler designed and built motor generator sets for printing plants, the steel and automotive industries, and the Mint. During World Wars I and II, Crocker-Wheeler made vital contributions ranging from small motors used in radio equipment up to large 250 kW generators for armored cruisers of the Navy. After the wars, they continued their dominance in motor manufacturing, while continuing development of AC motors over 1,000 hp. In 1984 Jasper Electric Inc. acquired Crocker-Wheeler, Galis, and Elliott companies from Baker Industries. Part of the intent of these acquisitions was to secure important design drawings to better understand the correlation between motor design and performance. This understanding is critical to improving motor efficiency and longevity. New Core Inc. functions as an independent partner with Jasper Electric. The majority of New Core’s business comes through Jasper Electric.
