Container Centralen a/s is the owner of the CC Pool System. Container Centralen markets and operates this open pool of CC Containers with a supporting repair and maintenance service in which everyone can participate today. This system is without doubt the most widespread returnable transport item (RTI) pooling system within the European flower and pot plant industry. The success of the CC Pool System has led to its expansion into other industries, bringing its benefits to those other market segments.
CC’s best known product is the CC Container, the European Standard for transport and presentation of flowers and plants. The whole pool of approx. 3,5 m Items is equipped with RFID padlocks allowing simplified administration for all users in the supply chain.
Further items for the “Green market” are available: CC Euro Container and CC Euro Trolley are transport items fitting the Euro pallet measurements and therefore being preferred by many retailers to the classic CC Container.
Additionally Container Centralen serves the retail market with Rollcontainers, Minitainers, Dollies and Rollies as well as different crate types. Around 30 million items are in circulation to improve retailers’ logistics.
CC, with the Headquarters in Hoofddorp in the Netherlands, started as a co-operation between Danish flower and pot plant exporters in 1976. In 1980, the first Dutch customers - exporters and auctions - joined the CC Pool System, and in 1989 VGB - the Dutch union of flower wholesalers - acquired part of CC, and CC became a limited company. Container Centralen is owned 50 % by the Danish GASA Group one of Europe's leading exporter for flowers and plants and 50 % by VGB the Dutch trade association for the wholesale of flowers and plants.
CC has CC offices in the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and USA. Container Centralen has around 125 enthusiastic employees giving service to more than customers in 40 countries globally. The turnover in 2012 was € million.
