LEN'S is a certified firm in good standing with the IICRC, International Society of Cleaning Technicians & Dupont/Master Series approved. We are a family owned, fully insured Michigan Corporation and have been in the carpet cleaning maintenance and restoration industry for over thirty years.

Our technicians are highly knowledgeable, with continuous schooling and seminars being mandatory to obtain credentials ranging from Certified Journeyman, Master Cleaning Technician to Senior Carpet Claims Inspector.

We offer a variety of cleaning processes, depending upon the type of fiber/fabric, and circumstance. We work from truck-mounted hot water extraction ("Steam") cleaning units, as well as high-powered portable units, thus allowing us to service multi-story buildings and high security offices. Also, specialized spotting and upholstery cleaning units are used for delicate fabrics.

We also offer to our residential and commercial customers a broad range of services: 24 hour emergency catastrophe services, a full line supplier/ distributor service (from chemicals to copy paper), Enviro-Clean vacuums, air purification systems, traffic control entrance mats, and carpet inspection / correction services.

Our History:
In 1975 Harland (Butch) Mingus Jr. of Lansing, Michigan, started cleaning carpet and hard floors from a pick-up truck to further the services of “Butch’s Janitor Service” that he started from his home to supplement his income from Banner Linen Service. These were replaced by his entrepreneurial venture in the corporate small business world when he and his life-long friend started “Entrance Mats Plus, Inc.” in Grand Ledge, Michigan in 1984. Simultaneously his wife Margaret pursued her aspirations to own an antique shop called “Country Linens” with her friend and partner, also in Grand Ledge.

Harland (Lenny) Mingus III refurbished the old portable carpet cleaning equipment to help pay for college. Shortly after he purchased a van dedicated to residential carpet cleaning, this also served as a warehouse, office, and vehicle. Converting a room from their apartment, he and his wife Dena grew the business “Rug Relief” allowing them to quit their jobs at the City of Lansing and State of Michigan.

In 1990, all four Mingus’ ceased operations under their other businesses and joined forces to form “HARLen’s Carpet Care & Consultants, Inc.” After 19 years together, the company broke ground at 3436 Franette Road, Lansing, Michigan to erect a 12,000 sq ft facility that was completed January 1, 2009, marking Butch’s 35 year and Lenny’s 25 year anniversary in the cleaning industry. The company has grown to serve tens of thousands of residential and commercial clients cleaning millions of square feet of flooring in the Greater Lansing area, expanding personnel and services to become a complete 24-hour cleaning & restoration, consulting, inspection, retailing, supplier service oriented company.

Together, with God as their co-pilot, they have maneuvered through life’s challenges to successfully offer employment for 25 people and zero lay-offs thru 2010. With a combined sixty years of experience, and a remarkable staff; together they are preparing for the next generation of technicians…
