Eagle Mount was established in 1982 by Robert and Greta Mathis. The Mathises believed recreation opportunities could empower those with disabilities to “mount up with wings as eagles,” and they created a small ski program. Since then—thanks to our caring community of supporters—Eagle Mount has grown to occupy a 19-acre campus in Bozeman, as well as offer a broad spectrum of activities, camps, and events for its participants. Following its founders’ wishes, Eagle Mount never turns anyone away if they cannot pay, and is funded entirely through private dollars. These days, we serve about 2,000 participants a year, with the help of an equal number of volunteers. Recognized by the Today show as one of five small charities that make a big difference, we continue to be inspired by the courage, determination, and gifts of those whose abilities are different from our own.
