Ellettsville First Assembly

We believe God has placed Ellettsville First Assembly of God into this community for a specific mission: “Healing Hearts | Changing Lives” by the power of Jesus Christ. This vision statement is meant to expand the mission He has given.

In this life, we all have hurts and pains and are in need of healing and restoration. We believe God has positioned us to focus on those who are hurting and broken within our community in order to display the love of God. We choose to take responsibility and introduce them to a loving God who can change their life. He is the only one who can remove past, present, and future hurts and pains. The cross of Jesus Christ is where we find healing. His death and resurrection provided for healing in every area of our lives - body, mind, and spirit. As a church, we desire to be an extension of Christ to our community and the surrounding areas (Mt. 28:19-20) by loving and serving all ages and all people. We trust God will equip us to shape and mold those who are willing into the image of Christ as we pursue Him together.

-Our History-
In 1940, a revival in the Holy Spirit brought several families to know the Lord. Services were first held in the home of Moten & Pearl Still. Individuals met April 4, 1941 in Red Man's Hall to organize a church under the leadership of Rev. Fred Deckard. Families involved included the Paschals, Fullers, Stills, Robinsons, koons, Wrights and Snoddy.
As the church grew, the church moved into the old hotel building located at the corner of Sale & Main Streets. While canvassing the town, Lloyd Snoddy witnessed to McNeely, who gave us the land where First Assembly now stands at the corner of 2nd and Association streets. On Labor Day, 1941, groundbreaking on the church building took place and the first service in the new building was held Christmas Eve of that year.
The building was remodeled and added onto in 1953 and in 1962 a new auditorium was erected. Groundbreaking for a new sanctuary was held on December 28, 1980 and a dedication for our sanctuary was held October 24-25, 1981. In, 1999, ten acres of property on Highway 46 was donated to First Assembly by Mary George, which the church currently owns with an intention to utilize in our future. Pastor Ronnie Hinson served as Youth Pastor from 2008 to 2015 and has served as the Lead Pastor since 2015.
