Doing contract work for NASA on the Apollo missions, Al had the responsibility of calibrating water quality for the astronauts. It is then he conceptualized the idea for making a flow calibrator which is easy to use and portable. In 1981 Al made his idea a reality by starting Buck Inc. in his Orlando garage. He and his wife Linda Buck made this small business into a multimillion dollar company with their entrepreneur ship and hard work. Al’s sheer desire to help Industrial Hygiene market led him to invent new air sampling pumps which were ahead of its time in terms of technology. Today Buck Inc. is a leading manufacturer of air sampling pumps and calibrators which are used to monitor personal and environmental exposures in various industries.
