Grace For The Race In his opening remarks on the message, "Grace for the Race," Pastor Calvin said that the worst indictment that can be made against anyone is that that individual once walked with Christ, and now does not. This was the essence of his sermon in which he reminded us that God provides the grace that we need to complete our individual race. "It is not a sprint," he warned, "but a marathon." It is a journey that is not judged by the "bang" or fast pace by which it starts, but by the steady and patient endurance it requires. Before we begin, however, we were cautioned that it is vital that we first count the cost. We must also pause and appreciate the importance of the mile stones of progress we make, because " there are no express lanes that lead to heaven." It is inevitable that hardships will be encountered along the way, but when faced by these set backs, obstacles, frustrations and disappointments, we must take solace in the words of Hebrews 12:4-12; because "God, the Redeemer, will not allow the devil to destroy you, and will supply us with the encouragement we need." This is just a synopsis of the passionate and relevant message we heard today from the pulpit at a2wc, and I encourage you to invite others as you listen to the entire sermon. Saved From or Saved To? On they very first Sunday we were able to meet as a church, following our recent visit from Hurricane Irma, Lead Pastor, Calvin Lyerla, preached on the topic, Saved From or Saved To? The text for his message was based on James 2:26 and supported by scriptural verses taken from the New Testament. As Christians, do we place too much emphasis on our testimonies of salvation and neglect to focus our attention on what we are saved to do? What is our calling? How ought we to live? What are we to do? Do we find ourselves stuck in the salvation mode of the past? "If you become mute today," the pastor asked, "can someone be saved by what you do?" Those things from which we are saved are in the past, but what we saved to,lies ahead. "We are saved," he continued, "to use the gifts and talents that God has given us to serve, to do the work of the ministry and to deny self." We were reminded that "faith with good works is life to all who walk in it." These are only a few of the highlights of today's message, the entirety of which can be heard, by logging on to, then select our archived sermons. ~~~ w. A. Felix

This is STILL the day that the Lord has made, and we WILL rejoice in it. We may not be gathering in a building today for worship, all means...WORSHIP HIM! This is NOT Irma's day, THIS IS THE LORD'S DAY! I said, the is NOT Irma's day, this IS the Lord's day! He does not dwell in temples made by hands, anyway, He dwells in the temples of our hearts. So, let us do what we always do on a Sunday. Praise Him....Worship Him...Pray...Receive His Word...Give our Tithes and Offerings...and most of all...REJOICE AND BE GLAD. Psalm 93 was sent to me yesterday and I share it with you now - "The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty and splendor. The Lord has clothed and encircled Himself with strength, the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved. Your throne is established from old, You are from everlasting. The floods have lifted up their voice, the floods lift up their pounding waves. More than the sounds of many waters, more than the mighty breakers of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty. Your words are fully confirmed and completely reliable. Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever." Stay in His Presence and pray for all being adversely effected by this storm. He still does give Peace, in the midst of the storm. I know the Peace-Speaker and His name is JESUS!

To our A2WC Family - if Hurricane Irma continues her current track, we will not be open for Worship this Sunday. Should she change course and track away from us, then we will surely have Worship this Sunday. I urge you to make all necessary preparations, and especially for your personal safety and the safety of your loved ones. Church office will re-open next Tuesday. Let us all pray to the One who still commands the winds and the waves. "Lord, we appeal to you today, have mercy upon us." -- Pastor Calvin
