Well, it really isn't news, but R-22 has gone up again is 2013 by 20%!

I've noticed in the past few years that customers have gotten away from yearly maintenence and just calling when their system breaks. I know the economy is bad, but sometimes waiting can cost a lot more money. Try it with a car, see what happens! Why is your unit different?

And as always, change filters once a month. Use plain filters from grocery store. The high effiency filters get dirtier quicker and systems are not designed for lower airflow. The fan motor is air-cooled so putting a highly restrictive filter can lead to fan failure or frozen units The stores like them because theres more mark-up. There are ways of cleaning air better but it cost money to do it right. If you feel you have to use these filters, than change them every 2 weeks.

Hold on to your wallets everyone! The EPA has decided with little notice to cut R-22 production by 43% effective now so this week the price of R-22 has doubled and who knows where it will stop! R-22 is the old refrigerant that most people have now
