The centrifugal casting technique uses the centrifugal force generated by a rotating cylindrical mold to throw molten metal against a mold wall to form the desired shape. Therefore, a centrifugal casting must be able to spin a mold, receive molten metal, and let the metal solidify and cool in the mold in a carefully controlled manner. Centrifugal casting machines are categorized into three basic types based on the direction of the spinning axis: horizontal, vertical and inclined. There are also three types of centrifugal casting processes: True centrifugal casting, semi-centrifugal casting and centrifuge centrifugal casting.
