Statement from U.S. Fire Administrator Keith Bryant on the passing of Chief Alan Brunacini: “The U.S. Fire Administration joins the greater fire service in mourning the loss and celebrating the life of Chief Alan Brunacini. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the Brunacini family and the Phoenix Fire Department, who so unselfishly shared the life of Chief Brunacini with the American fire service family. There is no way to measure the positive influence Chief Brunacini had on virtually every aspect of fire and emergency services. There is absolutely no debate American citizens are safer and better protected because of his influence, nor can it be argued that firefighters are safer and better trained and educated to serve the human needs of their communities because of his efforts throughout his career and life. Perhaps Chief Brunacini's most lasting legacy will be his ability to connect with everyone he encountered with his genuine wisdom and wit. In this day of decreased civility, his example and leadership will live on in the fire service as we all learned from him to "be nice" to each other and those we serve.” -- U.S. Fire Administrator Keith Bryant
