I was proud to represent the museum at the annual Friends of Balboa Park luncheon on 10/17/17. Great food and compelling presenters. My handsome dates were two of our museum board members, J.C. Dumas & Bob Schlotter. It was very uplifting to learn about the Friends of BP's acquisition and abiding love for the Balboa Park Carousel. You can become a part of it's historic restoration at .

MEET THE LEGENDARY BRUCE MYERS! Spanning 60 years of off road life, "Call To Baja" is an introduction to Bruce Meyers, his adventures in Baja, and the way the Meyers Manx came into being. Bruce conceived of the Manx through his observation of the clumsy early off road vehicles and introducing a fiberglass body to his concept in 1964. By winning the 1967 Mexican 1000 race ahead of other competitors by a jaw dropping 4 hours brought the public’s attention to off road racing. It goes on to describe his races and his lifelong passion for the off road life. It details his escapades in Baja and the joy he found off road. Outlining the importance of the Meyers Manx to the off road community and how it inspired a love for off road that remains today. All sales at the door. Join us on Sunday, October 22nd from 5:30 to 8:30 to celebrate the man and his mission! $35 package: One copy of Call to Baja plus admission to the museum and the signing! $15 package: Admission to the museum and the signing!
