Hembrough Tree & Lawn Care

Hembrough, Inc. Tree & Lawn Care is a full service landscape, hardscapes, lawn care, tree care, grounds maintenance, outdoor lighting, outdoor kitchen, outdoor fireplaces, patios, snow removal and ice control company. We are located in Jacksonville, Illinois and have been serving West Central Illinois residential and commercial

clients since 1955.

The Hembrough family has been operating the business for two generations. John and Darla Hembrough started the business when the Dutch elm disease infected a large number of Jacksonville’s elm trees. From 1955 through 1968, the company was involved with removing approximately 6,000 trees, a rough average of 460 trees per year. In 1963, they purchased property on the east side of Jacksonville that previously was Schirz Dairy and began planting trees. Until 1975, the business was strictly a tree business. At that time, the garden center was added and the business expanded to a full service lawn and tree business. The snow removal and ice control division was added in 1985.

John and Darla’s son, Steve Hembrough, has worked for the business most of his life. After receiving an Associate Degree in Ornamental Horticulture, Steve began working full time for the business. When his father retired in 1987, Steve and his wife, Katie, took over the business. Today, Hembrough, Inc. Tree & Lawn Care has 18 employees and offers a full line of services for 1759 commercial and residential clients in West Central Illinois.
