The inspiration that became Victor Hugo Vineyards and Winery began when Victor and Leslie Roberts purchased an old, abandoned cattle ranch which included an ancient redwood barn in 1984. The rocky, calcareous, highly fractured shale soils and rolling to steep hillsides were ideal for wine grapes the first of which were planted in spring 1985. After years of selling grapes to neighboring wineries, Victor and Leslie renovated the redwood barn in 1997 and began producing wines for themselves as Victor Hugo Vineyards and Winery. The small production, owner operated philosophy utilizing estate grapes to produce intense, concentrated wines continues today. Please plan to visit us making an appointment so Leslie or Victor can personally join you for a intimate wine tasting.
