STATE CHAMPIONS: The Allen Eagle Wrestling Team has won its 8th consecutive UIL state title. The team scored a combined 264.5 points, a state UIL record. The second place team scored 100 points. Allen had placed wrestlers in 14 of the 15 weight classes. Allen wrestlers winning individual titles included: Juwan Robinson (152), A.J. Ferrari (160), Mark Inglehart (195), Nico Manzonelli (285) and Alex Liles (138) in the girls division.

Congratulations to the Allen Eagles Basketball Team for their BIG win over Cedar Hill last night. The Eagles won 78-70 in 6A Area playoff competition over the state's #2 team. Look for new playoff information later this week. WRESTLING: Meanwhile in Cypress (TX), the Allen Wrestling Team has a BIG lead after the first day of competition. They go into the state finals with a score of 115 points compared to #2 Southlake's score of 43. Allen is seeking its eighth straight state wrestling championship.

Four Allen ISD teams will advance to the state tournament and district teams won an additional 24 awards during the 2017 Destination Imagination NExT Region Tournament at John Paul II High School on Feb. 18. The four teams advancing to the state tournament and their categories are: Technical: Vaughan Elementary Technical: Ereckson Middle School Technical: Curtis Middle School / Lowery Freshman Center /Allen High School Structure: Kerr Elementary The Allen teams will compete against teams from all over the state at Lubbock’s Monterrey High School in April for the opportunity to advance to the Global Tournament held at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in May. During the event they will face open-ended challenges requiring the application of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) skills, as well as skills in improvisation, theater arts, writing, project management, communication, innovation, teamwork and community service. Besides the state qualifiers, additional winning teams from Allen ISD include: Scientific: Chandler, Cheatham and Marion Elementary Schools and Allen High School Fine Arts: Olson and Bolin Elementary Schools Improvisational: Cheatham, Kerr and Lindsey Elementary Schools and two teams from Curtis Middle School Structure: Cheatham Elementary High Instant Challenge Awards were won by the following Allen ISD teams: Fine Arts: Olson Elementary Improvisational: Curtis Middle School Project Outreach: Curtis Middle School/Lowery Freshman Center/Allen High School In addition to the ranked awards, four Special Awards were given to Allen ISD teams for exceptional work in several areas: The Chandler Elementary and Allen High School Scientific Teams won the The DaVinci Award for exceptional creativity, a unique approach to the problem and/or risk taking. Curtis Middle/Lowery Freshman/Allen High School Project Outreach Team won the The Renaissance Award for exceptional skill in engineering, design, or performance. Green Elementary Structure Team won The Spirit of DI award for patience, poise and perseverance under pressure.
