Welcome to New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Facebook page where you can learn more about our faith journey as a community in Christ, reaching out to all God’s people.

NHELC, as we’re often called, is a lively and active fellowship of Christians of all ages. Opportunities abound for children and youth through our Sunday school, three youth ministry groups, four choirs, Vacation Bible School, and a wide variety of other activities. Each Sunday, Adults can also engage in discussions of faith and life during several adult learning opportunities. Or maybe, just enjoy conversation and fellowship with others in the Mission Soul Café.

Our Mission Service team can help you plug into a mission project that you feel called to. Music is a gift that NHELC has cultivated throughout its history (and we’re over three hundred years old!). We have six vocal choirs, a hand chime choir, and a carillon bell choir. If you play an instrument and are interested in accompanying any worship service, just talk to our director of music ministry.

The program staff also includes: the Rev. Tom Lang, senior pastor, Carol Detweiler, director of Christian education, and Susan Gutshall, church office manager.

Sunday Services are at 7:30 and 10:15 Sunday school for all ages is at 9:00 Nursery care is available at the late service.

We can’t talk about NHELC without mentioning the ever popular Great Swamp Picnic which is held in our picnic grove each year. Check out some of the photos posted here and come join us each August for some great food and entertainment.
