Just a reminder, the shop is closed this week due to Matte attending the Dallas Suscon. Mention this post or use the phrase "how was suscon?" and receive $5.00 off any piercing service next week. Hope to see you then!

Matte will be attending the Dallas suscon again this year. Therefore, the shop will be closed except for private tattoo appointments next week. There will be no piercing or jewelry sales next week! Come see Matte the rest of this week and keep him busy. Last piercing will be done at 7:30 Saturday night.

Neometal water opals are now in stock. 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0mm, trinities and flowers. These may be a limited run so get them while you can.

This issue was brought up over the weekend at the shop. Can a step parent sign for a minor for a piercing? I (Matte) have always erred on the side of caution for the most part. I require a parent or legal guardian. Over the weekend, I had a parent complain that i wouldn't let the child's step parent sign for them, I explained that my policy follows the state law guidelines. The said that is up for interpretation. I disagreed. So, I decided to look it up on the interwebs. Here is an excerpt from "Unless a stepparent has legally adopted a stepchild, he or she will have no legal right to make legal and medical decisions on behalf of their stepchild. That would mean that you have no right to make a decision on what school he or she attends, or does not attend, or health and medical decisions on their behalf, even if the stepchild wanted you to be involved in the decision making, such as accompanying them to a doctor’s appointment, etc.". I hope this clarifies our stance on piercing minors and the people who can sign for them.
