Founded in 1971, The Humane Society of West Alabama, is a no-kill animal rescue organization run entirely by volunteers. We rely on donations from citizens and our fundraisers to keep our two shelters open because we receive no monetary government grants or help from national organizations like HSUS.
Our Cat Shelter is cage-free and houses anywhere between 20 and 50 cats at any given time. Our Dog Shelter has large runs and two yards for doggy playgroups, plus more dogs in foster homes.
We help reunite pet parents with their lost animals by posting their information on our Facebook page in our "Lost and Found" album. And, when our limited resources permit, we try to help with emergency vet bills when needed.
We do not have the authority to seize or investigate cases of animal cruelty or roaming animals; please contact Animal Control or the police.
