The Atlanta Humane Society is a private, independent organization for the welfare of animals. Founded in 1873 following an earlier visit to the city by General Robert E. Lee, it participates in numerous activities to maintain its mission. Puppy mill and hoarding rescues, dog fighting raids, veterinary services, community programs and daily adoptions are among the things that AHS offers. Whether you need obedience training, or grief counseling, we stick with our adopters from the first day to the last. On December 3rd, 2011, AHS opened an additional facility at 1565 Mansell Road in order to double the capacity for adoptions and rescues. Come on down and find love at the Atlanta Humane Society!
