Since the first bungalows were built in the early 1900s, the Chicago bungalows have been a source of pride for bungalow owners and the city of Chicago.
The Chicago Bungalow Association (CBA) is a non-profit organization that was created to foster an appreciation of the Chicago Bungalow as a distinctive housing type, encourage sympathetic rehabilitation of Chicago bungalows, and assist bungalow owners with making their homes more energy efficient and adapting their homes to current needs, which in turn helps to strengthen Chicago bungalow neighborhoods.
The Association offers a variety of financial resources, including grants for energy efficiency improvements, and technical resources, from “how-to” seminars to design guidelines for common bungalow rehab projects. Certifying a bungalow with the Chicago Bungalow Association is the first step in accessing these financial incentives and benefits.
