First Minnesota Bank was originally chartered as First National Bank of Glencoe on October 10, 1881 under the leadership of Captains Reed and Matthew Thoeny, who were civil war friends. The Bank was organized by local investors to assist in development of the area. Many of the original investors’ family names are still recognized in the community today. In 1995 the First National Bank of Glencoe merged with First Bank of Minnesota Hutchinson, acquired by Mr. Wakefield in 1982, to become First Minnesota Bank.

Since 1881 a lot has changed, we now have 11 operating branch locations in and around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. First Minnesota Bank serves the communities of Glencoe, Hutchinson, Stewart, Mayer, Monticello, Minnetonka, Mound, Buffalo, Champlin, Edina, and Anoka. As a full service community bank, First Minnesota Bank provides business financing and consumer lending, as well as commercial and consumer real estate financing. In our rural locations, we are a leading resource for farmers and have a history of strong support for this industry.

First Minnesota Bank is proud to continue its tradition of financing local businesses, consumers, and farmers in the communities surrounding the bank locations and will continue to do so for years to come.

Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender.
