I know some of our guests are avid cyclists and all of our guests care about our community. Please give this post your consideration.
For Immediate release - Topeka Community Cycle Shop to close shop on 4/30/2017 Contact: Ben Alford benjamen.alford@gmail.com 785.633.2351 The Topeka Community Cycle Project (TCCP) will be ceasing its main operations at 423 S. Kansas Ave as of 4/30/2017 while we search for a new location to house our main operations. For the past 8 years, TCCP has operated out of the space at 423 S. Kansas, providing the community with a space to work on bicycles and earn bicycles through volunteering. TCCP serves a wide demographic of individuals providing local cycling knowledge, mechanical assistance, and an outlet for many to explore and get hands on experience working with bikes. In addition the TCCP’s shop space serves as a location for the distribution of helmets from Safe Kids Shawnee County and community hub for bicycle education courses, meetings, and creative workshops. We are currently working with our community partners to purchase or lease a space to continue our main operations. Presently we are trying to come up with a plan to reduce impact on our core audience, increase our footprint within the community, and offer more outreach to a larger population of Topeka. “We had always known that we wouldn't be able to occupy our current location forever and have been keeping our eyes open for the right space to permanently house our operations for the past year or so. These recent developments with our space have just moved this to a higher priority for us. We are nothing less than grateful for the Friends of the Free State for letting us use their space for the past 8 years. Without them we wouldn’t exist at all. Thanks to their generosity, we’ve been able to work on our core mission and further expand our mission to greater educational and advocacy efforts throughout Topeka. We view this as an opportunity for growth and are excited for what lies ahead. I want to thank the community for all of your help and support over the years, and I look forward to further growing our organization and being able to broaden our outreach to the greater community. “ -Ben Alford, president. TCCP thanks all of its benefactors current and past for their generosity, support, and concern for bettering access to cycling in Topeka. If you are interested in offering or suggesting a commercial, retail, or storage space or if you’d like to make a donation towards continuing TCCP’s mission, please contact Ben Alford at benjamen.alford@gmail.com or call 785-633-2351. In addition if you are interested in volunteering or assisting in our move, TCCP would love to hear from you as well! As always, TCCP is a community effort! The Topeka Community Cycle Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community bicycle shop. TCCP strives to broaden access to cycling in Topeka through hands-on education and bike repair. Located at 423 S. Kansas Avenue Topeka, KS 66603, TCCP is open Thursdays from 5 - 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for individuals to come and work on their bikes for free, as well as earn and learn about bicycles while volunteering.
